facilitator for public and private sector public outreach initiatives.

Shenandoah Valley Network
Megan built a fledgling advisory group into the regional strategic leader for land use and transportation issues in the northern Shenandoah Valley, with citizen-led member groups in six counties and a variety of successful advocacy campaigns. Megan continues to support the Network.

Virginia Eastern Shore Land Trust
Megan provided all planning and staff services to create this effective local land trust, which protected more than 12,000 acres and 60 miles of waterfront in its first six years. Megan continues to advise the Land Trust.

Essex County Countryside Alliance
Megan worked with the ECCA board to develop
conservation targets, a focused land protection program and sustained
landowner outreach for this easement advocacy group, which secured
tax exempt status in 2007. Megan continues to support the Alliance.

Middle Peninsula Planning District Economic Development Plan
Megan designed and facilitated stakeholder meetings to create a plan for economic development that meets local needs and preserves natural resources in six counties in tidewater Virginia.
Pathways: Building a Local Initiative for Compatible Economic Development
Megan wrote and edited this handbook, then tested it in eight rural counties for The Nature Conservancy’s Center for Compatible Economic Development. Pathways allows citizen leaders to plan in a way that will meet the needs of the community, economy and the environment.
